Hosted annually, the Fleet News Awards celebrate the best cars, vans and businesses of the year at a black-tie event.
The all-new Niro was introduced last year, earning numerous accolades as it won praise from every corner of the UK. Most recently, the car was named the supreme winner of the Women’s World Car of the Year Awards, as well as its category win.
The Fleet News Awards judges praised the Niro: “Offering a broad range of low and zero-emission engine options with full electric, PHEV and hybrid, the Niro is fantastic value for money. Well equipped with a high-quality interior, backed by a seven-year warranty and great looks, it sets a new benchmark for the sector.”
Only available with the latest generation of highly efficient and economical electrified powertrains, the Niro Hybrid, PHEV and EV come in three generously equipped grades: ‘2’, ‘3’ and ‘4’. Highlights across all three grades include automatic LED headlights, Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™, Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with stop and go functionality and seven airbags and driver assistance technologies, such as Forward Collision Avoidance with car, pedestrian and cyclist recognition and junction turning (FCA 1.5).
The Niro EV delivers 201bhp with 255Nm of torque and a 285-mile EV range from its 64.8kWh battery, delivering zero emissions at car level. The Niro PHEV powertrain develops a combined 180bhp and 265Nm of torque, CO2 emissions as low as 18g/km, and a pure electric driving range of up to 40 miles – making the car qualify for a current benefit-in-kind tax rate of just 8%. Rounding off the trio, the Niro Hybrid produces 139bhp and 265Nm from its 1.6-litre GDi petrol engine, which produces as little as 100g/km CO2, yet provides up to 64.2mpg.
Kia had its best ever sales year in 2022, with sales reaching more than 100,000 for the first time, with a healthy number going to help fleet and business customers.
